Yamaha 26 tall rig Marina Village Alameda, CA
I have been enjoying sailing my Y26 tall rig on San Francisco Bay and have often wondered how nice it would be to have an updated version of this very fine boat.

It does exist!
For those of us who like remarkable smaller racer/cruisers that are beautiful, comfortable, well built, quick, innovative and seaworthy there are few if any boats out there that can compare to the new Yamaha-26=2.
I can only wish that a dealer in our area had the will and ability to restore Yamaha sailboat presence on the bay with this fabulous boat.

Looks like New Japan Yachts has yet another new 26 sailboat called the "Vecchio 26" Designed by Groupe Finot of France.

I'm fascinated. How did you get this boat? Is Yamaha expanding back into North America, or did you have to go to Japan for it.

Do you have a source of spare parts for your boat?

Regards,
Bob

I didn't buy a new Yamaha 26-2EX only posted a link for others to see the "latest and greatest" offerings from Yamaha. I would love to have one of those boats and perhaps one day Yamaha will reintroduce their boats to the US market. Their new boats are very modern designs yet still maintain a sense of traditional beauty and craft. I remain very satisfied with my present Yamaha 26 Tall Rig which is literally still like new in all respects. The boat is presently out of the water at Svensens Boat works in Alameda getting new bottom paint. The yard manager and other visitors to the yard have all been particularly impressed with the design, attention to detail and build quality of the boat. The gelcoat topsides are still perfect and the bottom has no blisters or any other issues. My boat had just been re-powered with a new Yanmar 1gm10 when I bought her just over 3 years ago.

Visit the following Yamaha Sailboat information source and go to the parts link which will tell you how to contact New Japan Motors for prices on original parts. You probably already know this.
yamahasaillboats.us (the old site was yamahasailboats.org)

I have personally needed nothing in the way of new Yamaha specific parts (OEM). It seems as if it is mainly hatch and latch hardware that may wear out or break. If push came to shove I believe one can search for and find very high quality stainless steel off the shelf replacement hardware that closely matches the original. I have not had to do that yet. It sure would be nice to be able to find something that would be an exact fit so that no new holes would have to be drilled.
