2011 Dauphin Island Race

Well the 53rd Annual Dauphin Island Race is coming up this weekend on Mobile Bay. Just curious how many of you may be participating this year?

We have done this as our 1 and only "race" each year since 2006. Even came in last place one year (last to finish before the final gun not last boat across the line) due to light winds and a laid back additude.

Not racing but we'll be out there...

We're not racing this year, but are leaving Fairhope early Saturday morning on the first leg of a 14-day cruise to Apalachicola. Watch for us to the east, not too many two-masted schooners out there. Watching the weather now. I've heard it's a big turnout for the race this year, good luck, have fun and be safe!

How far you going Chuck? Just to Big Lagoon or points east? Wish i had a week off to go play.

I just hope the front on Wednesday goes through quickly. I am not too proud to stay tied up at the dock for the race if it is blowing 25kts or more. A wise man once asked me "Son, if it isn't fun, then why should we do it?" I try to stick by that as close as I can.
