First post for me on this site. The manual for the Sail Drive on my boat recommends replacement of the seal every 7 years. However inspection suggests the seal is in good condition. Comments I have read on other cruiser forums suggest that owners tend to inspect but not necessarily replace the seal as often as recommended. I believe people have gone further to say that it is extremely rare for a seal to leak and sensors are in place to detect leakage. How have any of my fellow sail drive owners or operators dealt with this?
