I have a 2008 Beneteau Oceania 46 that has the standard panel by the nav desk. The Batteries and Levels Monitoring cycles through the Fresh Water 1 and Engine 12V Voltage indications. It is not responding when the volts water or fuel buttons are pressed. I need to see the Fuel level. I suspect that it may be a blown fuse for the Fuel Sender but I do not know the location of the fuse. I’ve opened the panel but do not see an inline fuse or a fuse bus. I’m a new owner so this is new to me.

I presume it’s a VDO display panel like this?

When you press the Volts button it should switch through the other battery banks. If it doesn’t do that I’d assume the buttons themselves have gone bad. There might be an additional problem with the fuel sender, or the part of the board that communicates with it, but I’d confirm the buttons are working first.

Electrical stuff on boats is often corroded over time. Things that worked stop. My first action is to get a DVM and start tracing the wires for each of the gauges. Often, a lack of ground is one of the usual suspects. Clean up the ground wire, and the magic smoke returns. Clean up may be as easy as tightening a screw or spraying a contact with a corrosion block chemical.

Then there are the times when it is more.

Your boat is from 2008. It has had 18 years to let the moisture corrode the wires and contacts. Maybe a little love and cleaning will revive the magic smoke that boats run on.

Thanks for the advice all. I’ll trace that down soon. I’m sure you're right and it will be something simple. Previous owner took good care and I wish to do the same. Once of prevention…. Once I get it fixed I’ll let you know as well as others. Feel like an opportunity to make a video.
