I have a 2006 Hunter 31, I have not had any problems with the cooling system, but was curious if this was normal, even though I always remember it being this way...

When under power, it sound like the water coming out of the exhaust port is only once every third cycle? I'll hear the splash of water coming out and then it would be what feels like 5 seconds before the next splash of water comes out. Just one of those paranoid questions I guess. If you need more info please ask.

Thanks

Our 3JH does the same thing. I think that the exhaust pushes a certain amount of water out of the muffler once it fills and the cycle repeats it self.

That is what I was thinking... but just wanted to hear someone else reaffirm it. Thanks

Same thing with our 2006 Hunter 31. Never has need a problem and like Steve says, it's probably a cycling through of water. Most important part is that it is consistent and you know water is in fact moving through. No question... if it weren't enough flow to cool engine, the alarm would sound.
Only issue I have had with not cooling properly was during storm trying to head back to marina at higher speed than normal and I assume the structure of hull and position of intake did not allow for adequate inflow of water to engine and had warning alarm sound. Now I keep it around 3800 or less rpms just to be safe.
