2001 Hunter 340 vs 1995 Hunter 35.5 Legend opinions and experiences needed

I need your help and experience. I’m looking at 2 models for my first sailboat purchase. My primary interest is coastal cruising in the Gulf of Mexico and maybe down to the Florida keys. Any insights comparing these two boats would be appreciated.

My previous boat was a 320 and I currently own a 37.5. However, my friend has a 35.5 and I helped him bring it back from Key West, FL to Hampton, VA two tears ago. I can vouch for the 35.5 as a nice waterway and coastal boat as long as you have crew to get through the night offshore. The 340 is vary similar to the 320 and I only did cruises in the Chesapeake Bay on the 320. I believe you will find that both are comparable as to interior and comfort. However the 340 will have a bigger cockpit and updated interior layout. If the 340 has the arch over the cockpit I think you will like that better than the 35.5.

The 35.5 will be a better or faster sailor than the 340. At least that is my experience with the 320 and 35.5. The 340s interior is much more Gucci than the 35.5.
