2 pc companionway door?

Has anyone here made, or seen, 2 pc companionway hatch boards? And what did you think of them? I've also toyed with the idea of somehow using them for small cockpit tables. Any thoughts on that?Happy winter solstice!John

I made my own

I made my own companion way doors to replace the hatch boards. They are made of oak frames stained to match the teak on the rest of the boat and have lexan inserts to let in light. We love them and can't imagine going back to hatch boards. I made a template from the hatch boards and made the doors from that. It took sevral trips back and forth to the boat to get the fit correct but it was wortht the effort.

Thanks we love the doors and wouldn't have a boat without them now. The snaps you see in the photo are for the cockpit cushions - keeps them from sliding around while underway.
