1st sail on the "new" boat

Finally got the "new" boat out on the lake this afternoon.
Motored out of the marina and on to a lake that looked like a sheet of glass. The Atomic 4 has more than enough power for this boat, never went passed 1/4 throttle and was running 5+ knots. We put up sails and bobbed around hoping for some wind. About the time we were gonna give it up and motor back in the wind came up. fairly light wind but we were running close to 5 knots close hauled. She handled like a dream. Once the sails were trimmed all it took was a finger tip on the tiller one in a while to keep her on a straight line. I'm a happy sailor.

Still got a few gremlins to chase out. When we launched Saturday the sailing instruments were dead. Found a connector pulled off, probably knocked it loose working on something else. Hooked it back up and all was good. Today as soon as I turned them on the breaker tripped (crap, WTF?). I 'll check that out tomorrow, today I was gonna sail.

Nice boat. Are those teak spreaders?
If so, I bet the boson chair guy came up with that idea.

The spreaders are white oak. Two coats of west system epoxy then 2 coats of Brightside poly on the top and edges and 2 coats of Helmsman Spar urethane on the bottom.

Got out again today for the "Summer Sailstice"
Friend and fellow sailor came by on his jetski and got a couple of pics.



Wind was pretty light and it was starting to get hot. I'm sitting up on the coaming trying to catch a little shade from the sails.
