1GM10 zinc packing

I am about to change the zinc on my 1GM10 - first time - and noticed a diamond shaped packing is shown in the manual behind the diamond shaped plate that holds the zinc. When I order parts, I received a small "O" shaped rubber gasket, but nothing diamond shaped. If there is a packing behind the metal plate, itwould be oggd to know before I take the old zinc out. Anybondy know if there is a diamond shaped packing (probably paper)and the part number so I can get a replacement? All help appreciated.

Yes

There is a paper gasket as you suspect. The ring you have insulates the zinc bolt. I have been working on my 1gm 10 for a few years now and always order online from toreson marine they are a big help.

Thank you for the information. I had problems and a couple of "wrong orders" due to my ignorance,a poor manual and some apparent mix ups in the parts catalogs. My "packing" (apparently improperly labeled thermostat gasket in at least one parts catalog) is now on its way to me. Thanks again!
