Has anyone else had a furler stay break? Mine broke at the top the second/bottom swage sleeve, Didn't see any corrsion looks like a clean break(maybe by just flexing, the cable untwisted about 8 inches). I didn't know about fixing it myself, but someone here told me CDI had a webpage, which I found with an email address, drawings, etc. I didn't want to tear into it (being new to Furler sailing)until I found someone who knew about the system(I seem to always have springs/washers/pins pop out from unexpected places). After getting an email reply I removed the furling line so I could slide the drum up, I found the turnbuckle and was able to remove the cable going up the inside. I'm having a new one swaged at the local Chandlery this week. (May have a second one done just to have on hand) With the cable not being that old I was wondering if it wouldn't be wise to change it every couple of years? I had a second/safety line on the mast thank god, so didn't have the mast colapse backward so was able to make it back to port with out calling out the Coasties.
