I want to replace the head on my 340. I currently have a Jacobson and I want to convert to a Raritan PH11 manual or any other suggestions? Has anybody had a similar replacement like this before and is it a difficult job? Ken

Ken its been done and in the forum

Ken, on Peggy's recommendation and my experience with two other Jabscos on a previous boat, I replaced the Jabsco in our 340 with the Raritan. I think there is a picture in the archives/forum. The bolt pattern for the base does match up and you will have to drill two or three new holes. In my case, only one of the old holes was exposed after the installation. The other catch is that the handle of the new head has to be removed to lower the shower seat all the way. We have lived with it that way for three season and it hasn't been a problem. If we want the seat down, I just slide the pump handle out. Potential perm solutions are to cutout part of the shower seat, put the handle in a tubing bender and arc it downward, or just remove the darn thing.

Good option.

Ken: The PHII is a good option if you want to stay with a manual head. I decided to go with an electric unit so I went with the Sea Era unit. One big advantage is that all the waste is macerated before it leaves the toilet. This minimizes the problem of plugging up the line. The down side is if the pump "craps" out. I suppose I can alway have a spare aboard for the day that it gives us the ghost. I like the unit especially when we have guests. Just push the button and hole it for a few seconds and they are done. I usually run it for 5-10 seconds when leaving after the weekend. The only problem that I remember when replacing the Jabsco with the PH II was the raw water intake hose was slightly short so we needed to replace that hose. The discharge was okay.

Sorry Ken I forgot that I put a new freshwater hose on for the modification. Steve is right.
