Macgregor 25 lake calhoun
Hello, I have a quick question and hope someone will help me figure out this problem that I'm having. I have a 1987 Macgregor 25. I was wondering if there is a switch someplace for the bilge pump. I only seem to have switches for lights and nothing for the bilge pump. My friends boat has a switch for the bilge pump. Does the mac bilge pump work automatically without a switch? Or is there something that I'm missing? I would really appreciate some help on this one. -Steve

You'll have to look

Steve, Your bilge pump could have a float switch either inside or outside pending the model. If so, they perhaps it's defective. You may need to follow the wiring back to the battery and anywhere it may be spliced. I suggest removing the pump and testing it from a known good battery. I'm suggesting it may be an automatic pump with it's own switch and either the switch or pump might be defective. Don't rule out bad wiring including splicing. Keep us informed on progress. Pump

May be directly wired to bat. too. Mac wiring is pretty much a PO/do it yourself deal. New the boats didn't come with much. If pump is wired direct to bat. look for an in line fuse hoder, this may have a blown fuse or just be worn out due to corrosion. On many used mac's it is worth doing a complete rewiring job. 1 then you'll know what and where everything is, and 2 you won't have things fail when you need them.
