My throttle/transmission controller on the Hunter 1994 29.5 after replacing the cable that was shot travels great but lacks sufficient friction to hold RPM at constant level when the vibration from being under power affect it. Is there an adjustment available and where is it located? Does anyone know manufacturer and model number of the unit? It has a Yanmar 2gm20f.

Were is your cable friction clamp? I bet you forgot to put it back when you replaced the cable.....Maybe someone here can post a close up picture for you.

You may need a "J clamp" for the cable. They are made by Teleflex/Morse.

Thank you guys. Much appreciated. If anyone has a picture it would be helpfull. P/O did not have one on there. I think the resistance of the defective cable was what was holding the throttle in place. Where would it be placed? Near the controller or near the engine?

You could also use a hose clamp on the throttle shield to restrict movement.

Good stuff I have the same issue. Last season I arranged a short bungy cord to hold rpm :)

I am not clear how this brake mounts. Does anyone have a photo or link to a more detailed explanation? Why is the throttle brake on the motor end and not more of a spring loaded resistance at the point of throttle internal like a Edson rebuild kit?

You put it on the throttle cable and tighten it. It crushes the outer sleeve of the cable slightly, thus increasing friction. Install it near the engine, because that's probably the easiest place to access the cable and you might want to adjust it a bit from time to time. It's what you call crude, but effective.
