Novice question*1..Does the boom vang attach from the mast base plate to the same point on boom as the mast sheet?

#2 question...In reefing according to the way I understand owner manual.
A.....Reduce main sail halyard to hook the cringle on main sail reef near gooseneck/mast.
B....I believe there are two cringles on the main. We use one cringle on hook/rams horn.
The question is where does the line for reefing using second cringle come from.....?
Is it tied with a fig eigth knot ,to the samll bail that slides on bottom of boom?
Then through the second cringle and then through the boom sheves ,to the cam inside the forward end of boom to anchor/cleat using cam located there?

Then do I need to put a line for tieing up the sail carryover from reefing?
Please advise..mark txs much

Negative. There is (should be) an attachment point further forward on the boom.

The main sheet attaches further aft, directly above where the lower end attaches to the main sheet post.

Consult the appended picture (but you'll have to tilt your head sideways!).

It's really much, much easier than you're describing.

The second side of the ramshead would be used for a second reef, which you probably don't have. For a single reef, you only use half the ramshead.

Step A is correct, as far as it goes, but after you hook on the cringle, remember to tighten the main halyard again.

Then you pull on the jiffy reefing line on the gooseneck side. As you do, you'll see that line pull down the aft end of the sail to the boom. Be sure the sliding bail is positioned right under the aft cringle as you take in the slack. To secure it, theres's no tieing off required, you just engage that pressure cleat out of which the line you're pulling is coming at the gooseneck. Push up the crescent moon thingy with the teeth on it right at the gooseneck. I pointed out the pressure cleat in the picture I posted a week or so ago (with my son in it). You do nothing else with the rest of that line apropos of setting the reef. Just tidy it up & leave it be. (In fact, that small bail you reference is, I think, the attachment for the boom vang you've been looking for.)

All you'll need next is "small stuff" (short 2'-3' lengths of 1/8" or 3/16" line) to reeve through the reefing grommets along the sail. Tie them off under the boom to control the extra sail. As I posted earlier, we never remove the small stuff & use them as sail ties when flaking the main on the boom. We tie stopper knots into those lines on both sides of the sail grommets so the line don't fall out.

Hope that's clear. It's really a very simple & elegant system Hunter has designed for us. If you heave-to, it's a very easy maneuver to perform, even in rough seas. Wish I had a picture of the final result for you but I can't seem to find one.

Prior picture

The prior picture with my son in it is in the "New Owner H23.5" thread you started. Take a closer look at that shot along with some of the commentary I offered there.

Re: Reefing

Then you pull on the jiffy reefing line on the gooseneck side. As you do, you'll see that line pull down the aft end of the sail to the boom. Be sure the sliding bail is positioned right under the aft cringle as you take in the slack.

The above line taken from this reply by you still is not answering the question I asked...I sorry Im not able to make my question clearier...

I do understand that " then you pull on the Jiffy line on the gooseneck side. As you do ,you will see that the line pulls down the aft end of the sail to the boom...now this is where the question I have comes in.This copied from my previous quetion..."B....I believe there are two cringles on the main. We use one cringle on hook/rams horn.
The question is where does the line for reefing using second cringle come from.....?
Is it tied with a fig eigth knot ,or any other type knot,to the samll bail that slides on bottom of boom?...I guess it could be slide directly under the aft cringle.?
Then through the second / aft cringle, and then through the boom sheves ,to the cam inside the forward end of boom to anchor/cleat using cam located there?
I hope this clarifies my question..I do really appreciate your advise. I dont have anyone around my area that owns a H23.5. Others Im talking to locally are only educated guessing..lol
