I was told, that due to the long cable tips used on the cables for my model, I'd have to remove the steering cables from the steering quadrant to get enough slack to drop the binnacle and then I'd be able to thread the long cable tips directly up the binnacle instead the 90 degree bend required if I didn't drop the binnacle. Then it's hard to get the binnacle reinstalled due to the connection rods in the base that separate the individual cables. It has something to do with the pin cable capture piece (See photos) that mounts inside the binnacle a couple of inches below the wheel brake, that requires the tips to be stiff from that attachment point, up to the lever arms where they attach. I think they changed that design in later years. We've done it that way 4 times in 33 years but was hoping there might be another method. This seems to be unique to the 1992 Hunter 28 model. Please tell me someone has discovered an easier way for my year, model and size sailboat.

No real help here from me, but that looks very much like my Hunter 37.5 (see photo), and my old Hunter 30-2, and probably like all Hunters in between from that generation. I did just replace the throttle cables, and I don't know how you would do it without removing the pedestal.
