I'm a rookie at my new "old" boat and the previous owner is not available to help. My questions concern that batteries that came with the boat and the electrical panel by the batteries and even a sail question. 1. Both batteries are deep cycle and I've heard that starting batteries are best for cranking over the Yanmar. Not a biggy or should I do some rewiring and get a third battery for the engine? 2. If I remember correctly on the electrical panel there was some sign about solar panel? Not sure what that is all about the Hunter literature that came with boat doesn't show anything about this. 3. The charger appears to oem. Is this possible and I see no way to adjust it if I go to all gel batteries. 4. Last one and it's not electrical- When I took mainsale off to store, the front of the battens where held in place by little nuts and bolts - I hate em and would like to have a sail maker change the sail to the velcro star[ style holding style on the leach that my H26 uses. Thanks in advance, BOB Schmit

Solar Panel Hole

Bob, I have a '91 H30T... same thing on the panel under the port side cockpit locker... a hole in the panel that says, "Solar Panel" just below it. I think this is a standard panel made be a vendor, provided to Hunter for inclusion in the stock boat from the factory. If we ever add solar panels, I think this is where the circuit breaker would go... Also, there is a switch (silver) just to the upper right... have no idea what it does as it is not marked... do you have this switch? Tony

Answers?

I took a pix of the panel and the ends of mainsail battens but the size (KB)is too large to send . I have no mystery switch just the blank where the solar label is. There are no batten caps on ends of the mainsail battens, the holes are just drilled into the ends. It was nice sitting in the cockpit under the boat cover...it was 20 degrees warmer there than outside (you get your thrills where you can) Then we went down to the lake and there were 8 various style of ice boats out there getting ready to race across the lake. Was a little jealous...
