I have a 1990 Hunter 27 and would like to get some input from Hunter 27 owners on achieving the best performance from that boat. How much rake and pre-bend are you putting in your rigs? At what tension are you setting your shrouds? Are you using backstay tensioners? What size headsails are being used? Anyone and everyone, if you have any advice on getting these boats to perform please let me know.

Bulldog,

You 27 is the newer version with the walkout transom correct. I have a 1992 and sail on the Ohio river. I have had good success racing on Wednesday nights. I strive to get the mast straight but hard to do. I probably have 3 to 6 inches of rake and some prebend. My inners are pretty tight and the outers firm. I have backstay adjustment but rarelu use it. I changed the main sheet to be double ended for access from port or starboard. I just added a roller furling that is affecting performance a little, but I like it. Where are you racing and against what kind of boats.
