Pearson Pearson 27 Jamestown, RI
I have a 1989 Pearson 27. I was experiencing water seepage getting to the bilge and finally took some time to run it down. This is a "heads up" for other Pearson 27 owners. I found that the water was leaking in through a poorly sealed deck anchor locker drain fitting. The locker drain hose was partially blocked, allowing rain water to get above the drain fitting in the locker. It leaked past the fitting and down the outside of the hose to drop into the forepeak area. Then, when I removed the forward water tank, I found that the forepeak does not drain to the bilge until the water gets high enough to go over the lip and drain under the fresh water tank. That allows about 2 gallons of water to build up in the forepeak. If the level is lower than the lip, it slowly seeps between the liner and the hull, back to the bilge until the forpeak drains. I drilled a 1/2" hole in the fiberglass liner lip, to allow the forepeak to drain under the fresh water tank. Then of course, I fixed the anchor locker before putting it all back together. Dry forepeak = :)

Just wanted to thank you. I'm looking at an 1987 27 and looking for potential trouble areas. Haven't found much so far, so if you know of others or could point me, I'd greatly appreciate it.
