So now the French are setting themselves up as

sailing 'gatekeepers' huh? Wonder if the CE mark helps when Frenchmen drive their catamarans up onto the rocks? (the new Cruising World)

EU Regs

Roger, I am not certain but I believe it is okay for visiting yachts not to be certified. However, if your visit is to be permanent or you wish to sell the boat in an EU country, then either you or the new owner needs to get it done. Perhaps RYA.org. uk will be a useful site as the Royal Yachting Association has had much discussion on this matter. Incidentally, if you are based in England and the boat was not in the EU prior to June 1998 you need this for England too, subject to the above criteria. I don't know where you obtained your boat but Opal Marine may have already sold it from their base in Sparkes Marina on Hayling Island. Either way they might be of help. There is a Legend (Hunter)Owners Association here too. Details from Opal as well.

Fred I think your comment is a bit harsh

remember he is in England, the EU requires all recreational boats to have the CE certification. If Hunter wants to sell boats there, then they have to comply. If they don't want to comply they have an alternative, don't sell in Europe.

David, I know you don't get our news up there.

We get little to none of it when we vacation in BC. But for the last twenty,,no thirty five years,,no forty one years,,,the French government has underwritten and slipped cash under the table to its' industry to unfairly compete with businesses in our country and state. (Boeing) Now with the CE requirements, a new obstacle is in place for fair competition. Don't ask about VAT. How much of that is French driven? Why do you have to print two languages on everything in your country, by law, at French insistence? And by law only one language can be spoken in Quebec, French, right? Why is there a minister of language in France? His job is to invent words that are 'French' so as to NOT use a derivative of English. Using English words for things like 'hamburger' (a German invention) is illegal in France. Why are so many products we use or consume have the word 'French' as the pronoun? (like French fry) I could go on for hours. In the English language any foreign word is readily or immediately adapted if it does a better job of describing a product or event. (tidal wave lost out to tsunami) See what I mean? Don't try that in France. Even if you could build an airplane without an interest free government loan that never has to be repaid. Humph! P.S. Ever hear the story of the French navigational charts that were printed using PARIS as the prime meridian? P.S. And read the history of the French attempt to build the Panama Canal. Nearly bankrupted the country because of greed. Life is about money in France or French territory.

I couldn't possibly have been that the "War Machine" need to spend US taxpayers money to enrich the coffers of the folks at Haliburton, nah that couldn't possibly be it!!...don't get ME started. Alan, Phil's gonna kill this thread.

There's many more reasons that this Texas cowboy is hiding, like revenge for Saddam trying to car bomb his daddy in Kuwait. 'Outrage' is only the beginning!!!! I'm so angry my jaw hurts. P.S. I hear the sailing is poor in the gulf. Too many unexploded mines and bombs and smugglers. Phil, we're still talking sailing. :)

CE marking?

Make one up. Use your best guess. The french are too stupid to even tell if it is right or not.

Okay, Roger: what kind of tech drawings?

This thread is getting way way way off topic. I even have a feeling that Roger isn't even checking this thread for an answer anymore. So: Roger: What level of details do you need for the 37.5? If one was to get them, where would a person normally go to get them? Is this something a boat builder normally make them available to owners? Is it normally in the owner's binder that comes with the boat? I have an 37.5 and have a bunch of drawings, but I am not certain which ones would fit your needs, if any. Let me know.
