1989 Hunter 23

I recently purchased a 1989 Hunter 23. What holds the large hatch cover up over the cockpit?

Do you mean the sliding hatch that can tilt up over the cabin area? My 23 does not have anything to hold it up. I think some people use line or stout shock cord around the boom.

Thanks..I also wondered if anyone put it up while sailing in light winds. Then the boom idea would not work.
