I've got one
John,I have a 1987 Hunter 285 and my thru-hull valve is under a small removable floor in the lazerette. As soon as you climb down into the lazerette (using the small foot pad on the bulk head) don't move! Face the bow and get on your knees. My boat has a removable floor where the exhaust hose passes through on it's way aft. Lift that flooring up (it maybe a little difficult since the hose is passing through it) and under it you may find the thru-hull fitting.I sail the bay and of course no dumping is allowed. So I have plans to remove the hose that goes to the fitting, the manual pump (going to convert that to a manual bilge pump), the "y" valve and cap off the thru-hull fitting. I'm a ways from the open ocean so I don't see a need to have the waste system set up like it is right now. Besides, if I do make it to the open ocean someday, I'll not be out there long enough to dump over. But if a future owner wants to he/she will still have the thru-hull fitting to use. Plus if I ever get the crazy thought of installing a built in AC, I'll have a fitting to use as the water intake. I think it's very important that you find the fitting or at least prove to yourself that it may have been glassed over, which I doubt.Bob
