I need to replace my mainsheet, topping lift line, reef line and main and jib halyards. After 23 years the weather has gotten to them. I went to West Marine to look at line, Sta Set seems to be similar, I need to know what diameters and length. I see West Marine still has a rigging shop in Rock Hill, SC that can make certain lines to order, Is there a better source to get what I need? Best type of line?

Also need to know if those whom have tried this, should I ditch my topping lift and go with a boomkicker and a vang? I cant seem to find both together anywhere and would like to know your thoughts on this and where/what to get.
I have always hated the topping lift, but it does have a purpose.

Bill,

Here is what I was planning on ordering in the for Tachyon earlier this year. Some helpful sailors surveyed the boat for me this spring and suggested that I hold off, as they felt my existing rigging was in descent shape, and that I should use it for a season to figure out what I liked and didn't like. Good advice! I specified mostly Novabraid products mainly because I liked how it felt in the hand at a trade show I attended. I took off the measurements from my existing rigging, which seems to work well.

Cheers,

Chris

The specs Chris gave above are pretty well within what Hunter originally put on these boats.. except for the topping lift, but I guess that could be just about anything. I have the original Hunter specifications for both running and standing rigging on my H23 web pages over at http://www.mrunix.net/h23/specs.html if that helps.

Cheers,
Brad

I got a boomkicker through the Chandlery on this site and a small soft vang from Garhauer. I'm done with my topping lift, happy to say. By the way, this site also has a section that specs and sells rigging. I have found prices here fair and service excellent.

Bill, If you have ever thought of running your lines to the cockpit now is the time to order extra line for that. Another 10' is cheap now.

Mike, Let us know how you like your boomkicker. I want one but its in next years budget and You have the first one on a h23 that I know of. Pictures are always nice. Charles
