I carry an old 7.5 Honda outboard on mine. It probably weighs over 80 lbs. and has given me no problems as far as the weight goes. IIRC, there is a 1/2" epoxied plywood "backing plate" on the interior that 4 mounting bolts go through. I've aslo stepped from my truck's bumper onto the mount then into the cockpit when the boat is on the trailer. Nothing flexes doing that, and I'm not a small guy.
