Hello,

I am looking to replace the forward hatch on my 1987 Hunter 28.5. I would like to just replace the hatch cover. It was blown off during a recent gale. Does anyone know where to get just the hatch cover? If I can't get just the cover I will need to replace the whole thing. Any ideas on where to buy the whole setup? Photos attached.

The original hatch from Hunter was plastic/composite and was pretty cheap construction. What I would advise is to replace the entire hatch even if you have the original frame. The important measurement is the cut out size which most manufactures provide. You may have to enlarge the hole a bit. Also measure the space for the outside fange and frame to ensure clearance. No they aren't cheap, but it is probably the best way to proceed. You will find many options.

Yup.. I think that the 28.5, 31, and 34 all used that same Bowmar hatch.. like a 180 or a 139 MED.. I don't know which.. A good stout hatch but can catch genoa sheets during tacks.
There may be "recovered" ones available?

Indeed my 84 H34 has a Bomar. Now the interesting part is that a friend was able to replace the cracked lens with lexan. He removed the lens and mad a pattern then went to a plastic/lexan distributor and had it cut. Works perfectly and cheaper. Good luck
