1986 O'Day 272 Head Toilet Floor Replacement

Has anyone replaced the board that the toilet sits on in the head?

I have removed all the screws that appear to be holding the board in place and it will not budge. Just bought the boat and the PO let the fresh water intake leak at the head connection, so that the board needs replacing to look nice enough for the wife.

I cannot get it to budge even with all screws out so was looking to see if there is a trick to it before I break out the saw and cut it out.

I have a different O'Day model but have found a lot in common.

I too had a lot of trouble getting the floor up. I found that most all cabin bulkheads floors and such are very tight press fits. You might try a wonder bar and use some force. You are replacing the floor anyways right?

Is there a chance that these boards are glued in addition to screwed in place?

If you are replacing it, just go for it- nothing to lose.....saber saw, and cut a hole to see what is happening. Let us know what's in there!

I just finished removing the bulkheads and most all the wood from inside my 272. I too was initially having difficulty with the head floor but found that it was pinned in by the forward starboard bulkhead. Once I removed that, the head floor piece came out effortlessly.

It sure feels nice and roomy all gutted as she is. I almost hate to have to put the bulkheads back.
