If anyone has any information on locating the spreader end caps for a 1986 Capri 18 made by Catalina. Maybe if someone know who the mast and spreader manufacturer was at that time/ thanks in advance, Geof

Welcome to the SBO forums. You will be more likely to find the part you need if we use the term "Spreader Boot". They come in several sizes. They are not a "Catalina" designed part. They attach to your spreader with "rigging Tape". It is like electrical tape but with a bit better glue.

The item I have insert into the end of the spreader, is black hard nylon or PVC and is held by two ss screws. It has two holes for the two shrouds coming up from the deck. Do spreader boots do the same thing? The are not round spreaders but oval. Thanks
Correction it has one hole for the shroud to countiue up to the upper mast in the center. the shape is an elongated oval insert.

The caps are part of the spreader tip that secures and guides the shrouds but with minimal sail protection. Besides the boots on the spreader tips, protective patches can be applied to the sail itself.
