1985 Evinrude Yachtwin 8 charge output specs.

E8SRLCOB S# C0476570 I have the SELOC manual that includes this motor but none of the schemitics seem to match and there are no specs for the charge output. I realize that it is un-regulated but I need the amperage capabilities and any other specs I can get. I'm trying to decide the type of battery it can support. It seemed to top off a lightly used group 24 flodded battery but I'm thinking of replacing this spent one with an AGM. I don't want to over draw from the charging output. Does anyone have this info? I used to have the same motor

and feel pretty sure it only put out 4 amps.

I have a 2001...

8 HP Sailmaster with an alternator option on the 27 footer I just sold. The specs for it are for 6 amps output, but that is reached only at the higher RPM range. You are probably right about the 4 amp output from the earlier versions of this motor, Warren.
