1985 Catalina 40 Standard Rig - What furler to use with Hayn Hi-Mod fittings

I have a 1985 Catalina 30 Standard Rig with Hayn HiMod fittings on the lower ends of the shrouds and stays. (Similar to Sta-Lok)

When I bought the boat it came with an old Merriman roller furler. A couple of foil sections near the top parted recently. When the standing rigging was replaced two years ago, new links had to be made to hold the drum above the compression cone instead of around the old swaged fitting.

I want to replace the furler with something that can accept the compression cone, preferably one that does not need to have the cone disassembled to put on.

While money is an object, safety and reliability are bigger.
What furlers fit over compression fittings? Is it worth replacing the furler on such an old boat?

Thanks

Probably none, they are pretty fat.

The answer to your second question is, do you like raising and lowering the jib by hand? Flaking the sail each time you use it? And paying for the cost of adding hanks to the jib? If the answer to these questions is yes, then don't buy a new furler, otherwise a new furler will enhance your enjoyment of the boat.

I'm not sure any furler is going to fit over a compression fitting. However, these fittings are easy to remove and put back on.

A furler is an important part of the boat, so replacing an old one that isn't working well is worth it. If the old one still works well and fits your sailing need, then stay with it.

We have a Reefit furler. IMO it is the best value out there with the best features. Sailing Hardware and Furlers - Island Planet Sails

My Mark IV Harken Furler is above my HiMod fitting on my headstay. Is that what you are trying to figure out?

I had the work done in 2018. It has just worked. I can check on it when I am next up on the boat (late May 2025) and let you know how it is configured. As I remember, some long tangs were used.
