Hi, does anybody know the original outboard motor bracket model? I'm looking to replace with something a bit more heavy duty but I want the existing holes to line up.

I put the garelic 2-stroke mount on mine a few years ago.. not sure the model number, but I believe all the mounts have common bolt holes.. I was able to use the same mounting holes in the transom.

Edit- the older style garelic mount (bought mine in '13) appeared to be a direct replacement. Looking at the new 2-stroke mount style it looks like the mounting plate is the same.. I'd venture a guess it would fit.

My 192 came with a Garelick-style aluminum bracket (which probably is Garelick, though the identifying sticker is long gone.) It looks like it is original. Here is Garelick's page: http://www.garelick.com/Aluminum-Auxiliary-Motor-Bracket-For-2-Stroke-Motors I'm not sure whether it's the 71040 or 71057 model number. They seem to be interchangeable, and the site appears to picture the 71057, yet the text describes the 71040. Go figure.

Unfortunately, "beefier" mounts, in either Garelick aluminum or stainless steel, appear to have a wider footprint on the transom. On the 192 and 222, this would require fabrication of a new, wider wedge spacer. I have seen a writeup somewhere of someone doing this in fiberglass. I think a good woodworker would be able to fab something out of wood or plywood, using the original wedge as a template to get the angle right. Given how excessive I know myself to be, I'd probably laminate up some solid teak to make a new wedge. You could use laminated BS1088 okoume, but I would lay at least a couple layers of glass/epoxy over it to seal it up well.

If you decide to go this route, I recommend contacting Garhauer Marine to ask them about their stainless steel motor mount (I have not found it on their online catalog.) Sage Marine are using it on the Sage 17, and it seems like a MUCH better mount with nicer lifting handle than any of comparable Garelick products. I suspect the Garhauer to be more expensive, but it's a nice looking piece of kit.

I have two 222 (84s) that came from orig. owners. The motor mounts are different so its probable that none were standard or When you consider the struggle for the boat builders at that time, stuff like motor mounts were often not kept in inventory or maybe installed by dealer or new owner.
