Hello, My name is Jeff and I have recently purchased a 1983 Hunter 34 in relatively good condition. I would love to get a pdf of the original owner's manual. My e-mail address is
btsewconvenient@gmail.com I have found extensive manuals on line for the Hunter 38 and 33 but no mention of such a manual for the 34. (www.torreson.com/s4s/manuals/hunter)

I have some confusion over how to stop the Yanmar 3 cylinder diesel. My broker suggested using the decompression knob to stop it. I have since consulted a Yanmar diesel manual and it says not to do this as it leaves fuel in the cylinder and is not good for the engine. I have tried pulling the fuel lever all the way back but the engine continues to idle quite nicely. There is no kill button on the instrument panel.

I would be most appreciative for any assistance in either of these matters. Thank you.

Jeff,

I have sent you an email with a .pdf of my owners manual and answers to your questions. Best of luck with your boat. There are lots of helpful owners here to assist.

Not sure what you mean by the "decompression knob"? There should be a pull knob on the panel in the cockpit ( or in my case, beside the panel as that is where I relocated it). Most call that the kill switch. Check on the starboard side of the engine, just below the throttle control, there should be a pull cable there that leads back to the "kill switch"

I would open up the engine hatch and get someone to pull the kill switch. You should be able to see the cable pull something on the starboard side. Sounds like the cable needs to be adjusted or it's seized or broken..
Hope this helps

Hey Allan, Can I Get A Copy Too?

Allan, If it's not too much trouble I'd like to get a copy of that pfd too. My email address is baysailor34@yahoo.com.

TIA,

Jeff...

You should be able to reach into the engine compartment (starboard side as Richard said, your left, facing aft) and move the lever on the high pressure pump housing to which the shut-down cable is attached to the rear to shut down the engine manually.

It sounds like your cable end may have slipped in the lock-down and now not giving you enough range of movement to shut off the fuel per Don's comment. Simple screwdriver adjustment.

Hunter 34 Manual

Didn't mean to bogart my copy of the H34 owners manual. Here it is for all. Sorry about some of the moldy pages. No scanners when it was new:cussing:

Happy New Year to all and, to all, thank you very much for clearing up the confusion regarding the kill switch on my H34. I appreciate getting the manual for our boat, too! This is a wonderful group of people.
