Would anyone happen to know the type of stock light bulb that was used for the Anchor light? I would like to replace it with an LED light in the same fixture.

I would be interested as well and make the assumption that my 1985 34 would have the same fixture as an 83 and require the same bulb. (leap of faith).

You would be better served to remove the bulb and actually take it with you to the auto parts store for a replacement. There are many different 12v bulbs and the counterman can tell by looking at it what you need. Then ask for the LED replacement... or ask where to go to find that type of bulb. Radio Shack might be good. West Marine will have it if you are packing enough power in your wallet.

I was hoping to do a single ascent, which is why I was hoping that someone might know.

I went through this exact process earlier this year with my H34. Truth is there were different fixtures used for the anchor light so no way of knowing for sure. I finally had to just get used to the idea that I would go up once and scout things out and then go a second time with the new bulb or fixture.

You can see what the fixture looks like if you check out my blog and look for an entry called "Up the Mast." www.dougsnewboat.blogspot.ca

Doug,
I'm interested to know how the change in you anchor light ended up,
Looks like I have the same fixture on my '83 and it appears that that is a combo light and steaming light, using two lamps for twice the battery drain? if so what fixture did you replace it with that the screw holes ligned up?

Jim, I'm embarrassed to say that I still haven't made it back up the mast to finish the job. I did buy a fixture (and I will tell you what brand it is shortly) but after that I ended up buying a mess of LED bulbs for the boat. I was hugely surprised to find out I could just buy replacement LED bulbs for the existing fixture and that's what I did. The existing fixture has two sockets, facing fore and aft. It definitely doesn't serve as a steaming light as we have one of those half way up the mast.

Thanks for the info. With the two lamps you'll find that there's two hot leads, one from each of the lamps. If wired to two switches it can be used as a steaming light as well as an anchor light. You just use twice the battery. I thought a PO had installed it and never wired it up. I think I'll change mine when I can get the proper sized tuit

If the concept was the same as the H31, all the outside fixtures used festoon bulbs. I replaced them with festoon style LEDs. As I recall, all were 42 mm just like all the overhead cabin lights. Haven't been up the mast to replace that one yet but I can see no reason Hunter would have used a different bulb there. Maybe a different fixture, but not a different bulb.
