1983 Hunter 31 Freshwater Pump

I have a 1983 Hunter 31, and the freshwater pump is not functioning. It makes noise, but does not pump water. I have tried to prime using a shopvac at the kitchen faucet. I was able to pull water from the tank through the plumbing, but as soon as I shut off the vacuum, the water flow stops, and the pump is still just making pumping noises. So, it looks like I need a new pump. I am thinking of adding a freshwater wash down to the cockpit while I redo the pump plumbing. What size pump would you use as a replacement?

I have been looking at this one Flojet 03526 144A Triplex Diaphragm 3526 Series Automatic Water System Pump

Do you think this will handle it?

Anywhere in the 3-4 gpm range is fine .. That one is fine.
Ya might want to take it apart and clean out the valves and diaphragms .. there may be some stuff in there causing it to not pump. Make sure that the suction lines have no air leaks, like at fittings or strainers..

Agree that checking the hose clamp tightness at the pump and all fittings is step #1. The slightest air leak keeps the pump from working although the added vacuum you provided at the faucet probably over came the air loss.

I have an 83 H 31. We put in a shurflo Aquaking 4.0 gm we also have a freshwater wash down in the cockpit. It works great

Check

I would take the pump apart before replacing and see what is the problem,could be something keeping it from pumping water like clogged screen or broken impeller but good to check before buying new one.

Replaced with a brand new Shurflow pump bought at local yardsale for $5

I now have running water, however this system must have been broken for a long time. Lots of mold/slime, came out of the faucet, and I still get almost zero flow out of the sink in the head, and very little to zero flow anywhere out of the Hot Water side of they system. How would you suggest cleaning the plastic waterlines of any standing mold/slime without damaging them?

I have thought about using pressurized air to blow them out, but don't know how much pressure I can safely use.

Are there any chemicals I could safely run through the system that would clean the lines?
