I need to replace the front hatch on my 1984 Hunter 22 I can’t find any info about them anywhere. Does anyone know anything about doing this?

Are you referring to the hatch below? If so, look on the undersize to see if there are any manufacturer's name on it, measure and contact Lewmar, Bomar and SBO (link below) with outside frame and inside lens dimensions for a replacment.

No longer made but there is a replacement with some work that will work but costly. Available thru the forum store.

Depending on the hatch issue, e.g., gasket or seal leak or acrylic failure you can remove the hatch cover and send to Select Plastics (Hatchmaster) who can replace the lens, gasket and seal, albeit they are not cheap. I recently got a quote for refurbishing a 20x 20 inch hatch cover of $502 plus shipping. A new hatch might cost the same.

Well ... you could use this as an opportunity to learn some fiberglass skills.
You can make a mold using your existing hatch.

If you cover your hatch with visqueen...fiberglass won’t stick to it

After covering the hatch with visqueen, you lay a few layers of wetted fiberglass cloth over the hatch... let it set and pull off the hardened cloth from the hatch. You now have a female mold. Fair the inside with fairing compound and sand smooth. Next cover the inside with release compound (it is a wax) and lay in three to six layers of wetted fiberglass cloth. Let it set. Pull it out of your mold and tool it to fit your hatch.

I'm looking for a replacement hatch for my 1985 Hunter 22 and have discovered that Amazon sells after-market ones that are the same size for a few hundred. Now I can't testify to the durability of the Amazon ones over the professional ones.

For a few hundred though I will give it a shot. Just my 2 cents.
