We have just acquired a 1982 27 and it has what appears to be a Hood "direct line" or "line drive" (DL or LD) furling system. I need to replace the furling line itself and I was looking for some information on how to do that. The important question is how to make an end to end splice in the new line (double braided 7/16) that is not too fat to go through the furling wheel. Or can I put the line on as a loop by removing or messing with some hardware.I would settle for a phone number or web site that can offer some technical support, even if I have to pay.And if I may be so bold, please avoid the "get a new furling rig" answer.
Thanks, Ron.
