I just recently (last week) purchased a 27 ' 1981 Newport sailboat. I'd like to know if anyone knows if a Bimini can be installed on this boat. It appears that since the boom extends all the way aft, it would be problematic... If anyone has successfully done this I would appreciate your guidance or suggestions. I'd also be curious as to whether the tiller can be converted to a wheel? Thanks!

I'm not familiar with the boat, but can't think of any reason that a bimini couldn't be installed. You just have to adapt for the height, the main traveller, and your back stay configuration.

Bimini

I have a 1978 27 and installed a bimini, I used one that is 46" high 85" wide and 5' long purchased from Overton's and it worked out great, I installed it a few days before a 200 mile river trip. Measure everything carefully to be sure of fit. So far as a wheel Edson steering makes a kit for the boat, I'm not sure if I will do this or not.
