Hi,

Does any one know the size of the cutless bearing in a 1981 H27? Not sure if I need to panic ahead of time and get it now or whether WM will have it in stock / be able to overnight it.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

PS I replces mine and worked with a local marine shop that would accept the part back if it was the wrong one. I installed the bearing, the diameter was perfect but it did have to be shortend as the bearing stuck out bast the end of the strut.

I have a Hunter 27' 1981. I just replaced the Cutlass Bearing. My bearing was a 1" shaft diameter with a 1 1/4" outside diameter that was 3" long. I had a little trouble problem finding one due to the length. I ended up finding it at Torresen Marine (Part Number "BETTA". It was $54.49. With standard UPS shipping, it was 64.28.

As one other responder said, I would measure the opening myslef. I have noticed that not all things stay "standard" on a 28 year old boat. I would also watch for paint over the shaft opening in the strut. Until I filed it down, I was not even aware of the metal sleave. I also missed the allen screws on the side of the strut due to paint.

I am happy to say I got the piece, removed the old one (a bit of a battle) and put in the new one (even more of a battle until I used the nut, bolt and washers technique). It was one of the more satisfying jobs, once it was done.
