1980 Hunter 27 Mast step

Can anyone tell me how high the mast step is (the inside sleeve) 1" 2"...? Need to lower the mast and don't know if I should lift the mast up and then lower it or if it's possible to just lower it while in the step?

The mast is about two inches down in the step. You will have to lift it before you lower it or risk damaging the mast, the step, or both.

I have a 1980 Hunter 27 and need to lower the mast. Can you tell me how heavy it is and can it be lowered by hand or do I need a crane?

You will need a crane or some type of lifting or stabilizing rig. The mast is not too heavy. Two people can lift it, rigging and all, while it is horizontal But standing up right is a different
