Hi Everyone,
I am again turning my attention to the money pit When I bought this hunter 4 years ago it had an older fuller system that consisted of a drum at the base and a swivle hook type of device that rode to the top of the forestay. She came a apart in a storm and I had to retrieve the halyard. In drum was pretty beat up and I fond a brand-new hank on jib in the V-birth that had never been opened. I kept the jib sail attached to the roller fuller. Is there a way of getting a set up that will allow me to use the old sail? Where would I start to look for it? The hank on is fine but it can be a pain when I'm trying to single hand? Any advice would be most appreciated.

Not sure what furler you have but if your 79 Hunter 30 is like mine then your old headsail has a cable sewn into the luff and is a furling only type roller furler (no reefing). I would imagine you could still use your old sail without the roller if necessary....just add a short cable where the drum would be. I would just use your new hank on and add a downhaul leading back to the cockpit so you can drop it if needed. Or buy a new reefing type roller furler and have both your new and old headsails modified to work with your new furler.
