I am a first time owner and need all the advice possible. I need all manuals for it and also need a lever for the gearbox. Also need to repair some of the fiberglass on it some advice on that would be great!

Check out the Boat Info tab under Forums on this web site for owners manuals and system drawings. I had a 1980 H30 and found it to be a great boat. Probably needs a bit of work after all these years but still a good solid boat.
Ther aren't really any manuals for the boat. There is a brochure with some drawings here:

You can source the engine manuals online by model.
By now, most every system has been changed by a Previous Owner or needs to be. So, get your reading glasses and a head spot light on, Write down the mfg name and model numbers of pumps, water heater, winches, head, stove, blocks, boom/mast, exterior lights on bow and stern, port lights (port hole windows).
This will give you a start on replacement sources (many of them can be found here at the SBO store).
Look at "Defender" online as another source.
There are many threads on replacing and repair of systems/parts on the Cherubini Hunter section as well as other forums here. Use the search feature for topics.
For more specific questions, send me a PM... I've owned my H 30 C since new.

Welcome aboard, Lee! Lots of great info here on the site.. G Grizzard is right on; make a list of all model numbers and type numbers for all the parts.. Start a picture file of those parts and other stuff around the innards and on deck. Those can be priceless when discussing piece/parts with other folks on the forum..
Well, it was www.ship468.org but doesn't seem to work anymore.....dang! It had all the chapters of the ysm12 service manual for download. I am glad I printed it out.
I had to charge batteries overnight managed to get started ran 10min. and died been sitting 2yrs so fuel is probably bad
Fuel is forever (almost). Fuel filter(s) may be gunked up or water in fuel. If you have a primary fuel / water separator filter, change it.
Then change the secondary fuel filter that is mounted on the front of the engine. These elements are available at NAPA. Just bring in the old ones.
Then the fun begins... You may need to 'Polish' your fuel in the tank, maybe not.
You will have to bleed the fuel line. For this you need experience or help from someone who's done it on that engine. Let me know.

yep I figured that hopeing I can drain tank and put new filters on it I can bleed it myself no big job
We have a 1989 Hunter 30. Our engine is a Yanmar 2GM20F. It's a great little 2 cylinder 16 hp diesel.
It sounds like you may have some challenges, but if you like to work with your hands, this can be a great boat.

heck atleast it ran for about 10 min. should be able to drain tank and put new filters in it thank you
I remember when I got mine started the first time. The previous owner could not get it started so it sat at least 3 years since it last cranked. I got it to start and like yours, it died maybe after 5 minutes. I drained the fuel and replaced the filters. It ran but would not maintain a constant speed. After multiple fuel line bleeds I finally got it to run great. It shook the boat pretty good though....motor mounts were shot. Have you inspected your mounts? It makes a huge difference 
Btw, there is a online store called Toad Marine Supply. They carry a lot of the Yanmar parts for your engine. I bought all my mounts, filters, mixing elbow, water pump parts etc. from them.

No did'nt check mounts yet will though. do you know where the gear lever is mounted? I believe on the steering column if so it's snapped of

The gear shift on my 79 H30C is on the binnacle below the steering wheel oriented port and starboard. It's basically a stainless steel, 8in. rod with a rubber covering at the outboard end for grip. It mounts through a hole in the pin that protrudes from the binnacle and is secured with a machine screw. Is the pin still present? If not, you'll have to study the Edson manual for a parts breakdown and dimensions.
I was afraid of that .Looks to be flush with it. So I,ll have to tear it apart just to see what I need to replace it
