the mast of my Catalina 30 tall mast is split in two at the spreader level ; what is the best way to insert a sleeve to join the two parts of the mast and is that a safe way of repair for future sailing or it is better to look for a new mast and abandon any repair project . any suggestion or expertise on the matter will be appreciated since I plan to start the project this winter .

First question i would ask myself is what is going on metallurgically to cause the metal to fail in this way. If you believe it may fail further, any repair will only be as strong as the weakest part. Is the mast corroded internally? what instigated the fail?

the boat fell from the dry dock stand on an other boat during a hurricane and the mast split in two at the spreader, so there is no rusting or metal problem but the force of the impact bent the mast at the spreader

There is a discussion of sleeved masts in The Complete Rigger's Apprentice. There is nothing philosophically wrong with it, the execution is the sticking point.
A call to Catalina may be in order. They are usually very helpful. They may have some insite on how to handle it and would have info on the extrusion used in the original.
Rig Rite is the usual source of extrusions. There may be others I am not aware of.
A quick search indicates that there are videos on youtube (of course) and some other informative threads on sailing sites. I'd also check craig's list etc, in case you luck out and find a boatless mast.
I looked at a Cat 30 in Connecticut last year that had a custom Seldon (?) mast with in mast furling, so solutions are available.
