1979 33' deck compared to 1981 33'

I have been looking at several Cherubini H33' over the past few weeks and wanted to know about the evolution of the deck design. The 79 H33 Has a very different design from the 81 H33 I looked at. The 79 looks more like an 83 H34 while the 81 has the distinct Cherubini look. Did Cort Steck design the 79? I would love a rundown by John C II. I am in a delema over which one I want more.

H33 deck lines

The 79 H 33 has the same lines as the later years. I have a 79. Unless the change was made during the 79 year, only the 78 and 77? models had the low forward roof line. Check the transom of the boat you're interested in for the year mfg. Also check the boat photos for the H 33 on this site. Ben Braden and Don Bodeman have posted photos of the early version of the H 33 which they identify as being 1977 and 1978. John Cherubuni can I'm sure shed some light on this. I have always envied the sleak look of the earlier models. The early coach roof seems to fit the sharp entry and rake of the hull lines better but the later boxy forward cabin lines certainly provide more headroom in the v berth area.

I've a Slanted forward Deck 78

I don't know if its the year or just a design option but I sure love my 78 with a slanted cabin top, most people think its a C&C but little do they know it was half the price. I Live on my 33 and am turning my forpeak into sail locker and Hanging lockers so I could care less on the head room, as well the smooth deck lines has saved me from a dousing on numerous waves, no hard surface to push the wave up to land on the cockpit.

Redesign of H-33 deck

Guys---My dad did all the design and drafting wok for Hunter till a little after his first bout with cancer, which was late 1980. He was working on a few other things like a motorsailer for John Luhrs after that, but did little for Hunter between the chemotherapy of 1981 and his passing in Feb 1983. It was after the first ration of chemo treatments was finished that Hunter concluded his contract.Therefore, whilst I do not recall much about the redesign in question offhand, I can tell you that if it was effected in 1978-79 it was definitely Cherubini's. Cort Steck did not come on till what I would call the 'Mark II' line of Hunter boats in early 1982 or late 1981.JC II
