1978 O'Day 22' Trailer

I just bought a 22" Shoal Draft O'Day. I need to buy a trailer. I live in Central Florda. The boat is in St. Pete. Any recommendations?

I bought an Oday 23 in May 2008. It had a basic trailer that allowed me to get it in the water...before the wooden bunks fell apart.

I've been looking also.

There's a guy in Texas who can make one for $2000 to $3000. I think his website is here: http://www.customsailboattrailers.com/

I basically have been looking on Craig's list, and the "gear for sale" part of this site. There was a great buy on a Triad trailer w/mast step device in Tampa for $2500 a few months ago on this site. I kicked myself for not jumping on it.

Thanks. The next question is, how do I verify specs on the boat/trailer? I don't have good specs to order a trailer.

Marty, in case you don't know, the keel carries most of the weight of the boat, the supports for the hull basically keep the boat from falling over.

That was my understanding. Thus, if I load the boat on a trailer that is adjustable, is it ok to have the keel unloaded temporarily while I lower (adjust) the bunks to get the keel set?

I believe I've found a trailer that is adjustable. It's a duel axle. I know they originally came with a single axle.

If you find a "good" sailboat trailer guy, he'll have experience with O'days.

The craiglist and other listings I found always tend to say something like "trailer for O'day XX.... I used this trailer with my Oday XX..blah, blah."

O'Day Trailer

I just picked up my new trailer for my O'Day 22. I had given them the measurements but they also offer to have me bring my boat and trailer in for a perfect fit.
