I'm amazed how many times I find myself in the middle of an upgrade or maintenance project and find that several of you are doing the same thing. Not long ago I read here about someone wanting ideas on modifications to the salon area. I came up with something I love. I hated having the salon table hanging on the bulkhead as it is. Its ugle plus thats valuable real estate and would be better suited for a flat screen tv or anything else. As for me I've had the boat 5 years and have never used the table. But it needs to be onboard for that one time when you need it. So how to store it??? Another problem with this boat is there isn't any counter space. Wouldn't it be a great idea to rebuild the table just like it is but make it a little longer. Then fit it in so it sets over the starboard seat between the gally stove and the hanging locker. In other words make an extention of the existing gally counter with it. I love it. Doesn't block any existing storage spaces, the kids can still sleep under it, don't have to modify the cusion. When its needed pull it out and set it up with a hanger on the bulkhead. For me this is a great idea. Will provide more space than I need in the salon now. I've come up with some others if any one is interested.

Sounds like a good idea

Lets hear more and post some pictures too. I saw a neat idea for organizing a nav station. The guy had put a hinged plexiglas top onto the top of the usual lift-up table. You could put a chart under it and draw a course, etc. on the plexi with a grease pen and erase it later. On top of the plexiglas was another pair of hinged tops which opened toward the hull. One of these had an attachment for the laptop and the other had the usb powered scanner fixed to it. Both of these hinged parts had an attachment to hold them out of the way to the side when he needed to put them out of the way. Sorry - no picture of it.

Love the table

It's very comfortable for four when down, and 100% out of the way when up. We store our rolled paper charts in the rack behind it when it is up. You pays your money, and you takes your choice! David Lady Lillie
