Peggy, I have a head that has suffer cracking from hard freezing (from previous owner), now has silicone everywhere and I take your point that 2 rebuilds=1 new unit. The unit has suffered from "people problems" and I assign no critcism on the manufacturer. I would like to minimize the work to replace the unit, so a new " Brydon" unit would be ok, but I can't find any reference or source for the Brydon units or parts. The only reference on the head is the foil label with Brydon, any (if there ever were) numbers or markings are not in plain view. Perhaps this was a distributors label added to the unit. The head looks most like a Groco manual head (BoatUS #190012) Have you heard of this unit, if so, would you post info for sources? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bryden has been out of business for at least 15

years (don't confuse it with an existing marine distributor named Bryden). The Bryden Boy toilet was a version of the Jabsco manual toilet made by a Canadian company under a licensing agreement with Jabsco...and if the number of 'em that are still in service are any indication, they certainly built a much higher quality toilet than anything Jabsco ever built here! So the closest replacement would be a Jabsco manual. However, if you plan to keep this boat for more than a year or two, I'd recommend you spend a bit more and buy a Raritan Cricket--the Groco HF is a much better toilet than Jabsco...the Cricket is a better choice than either of 'em. The bolt holes for the Bryden won't match ANY current toilet anyway, so don't let that influence your decision.
