Can anyone tell me the proper tension for my shrouds using a tension gauge. A guy at the dock who buys and fixes up boats then sells them had told me I needed to tighten them up. I tightened the shrouds but now they are two tight.

New to sailing and lesson learned research information no matter how long someone at the dock has been sailing.

Anyone by chance have the numbers from a Loos tension meter. I appreciate the document and I did download it and read it. Being my first time I am alittle nervous about just relying on my understanding if the info.

What is the size of your standing rigging?

Okay, I measured the lines with caliber. The center line that goes to the top of mast is 10mm. The two lines that go half way up the mast are between 9 and 10mm. Hope this is enough info.

Loos tension conversion from the numbers in the previous referenced document to the loos settings based on pt-1,2or3 available here:

http://loosnaples.com/how-to-use-pt-series-tension-gauges

You will need the pt-3 or 3m if your rigging is really that heavy. That is at the upper end of what the pt series of loos gauges are capable of. - (heaviest cable on the h260 is 5mm)

Could she have been re rigged with heavier standing rigging? If so going to 10-20% of breaking strength would likely start breaking mast, deck or chain plate components long before getting near that tension in the rigging.

I did search a bit to find the original rigging specs on a Cherubini 25 but with no success.

Well, sorry to say but read the caliber wrong. I guess that is what I get for going out after dark and being in a hurry.

The actual numbers are 5mm for the cable attached to the mast head and 4.5mm for the cables attached mid mast.

After researching online it looks like all cables would be considered a 3/16 cable.
