Hunter 25 Kemah
Recently acquired a 25' Hunter sailboat. I am currently in the process of restoring it to original condition. I have looked and asked many places and websites trying to find a bow rail to fit this boat. JZ Custom Rail quoted me $2000 for one!!!! I'm afraid not being that small piece would be worth more then the boat. Lol. I'm finding all sorts of railings for $300 and below, but none that would fit the Hunter. Is there anyone that can point me in the right direction or know of someone that might have a used/ salvaged part. I can do any kind of repair, just can't make a bow rail. Thanks to anyone who can help. Oh, btw. I'm located in Kemah Texas.

I have one, but it is somewhat banged-up. It is the original (1974) three-legged pulpit from Hunter's SS contractor (probably Seabrite Stainless in Neptune, NJ). I dislike it and am going to have a four-legged one made including a bow seat and step-through feature (actually a pretty simple and cheap improvement). To that end I had a new stem fitting made without the center leg's welded stud on it.

I am not going to reuse the pulpit and it's just sitting under the boat. However, the center leg is a little dodgy. The POP whacked a piling with it (perhaps more than once) to the extent of necessitating fiberglass repair to the boat's prow. The pulpit is still serviceable; but it is not pretty. It could be straightened if you are willing to do it yourself (remember to fill with sand first!) or else send it out for an inexpensive pro to do it.

If you have any leads on a four-legged pulpit, maybe we can do a swap. Or you can make me an offer of whatever you think is fair. I don't have any good pics but if you e-mail me (use my e-mail that's on file) I'll take some tomorrow and can post them. I am in western NJ; so I don't know how you'd want to work that; but, there it is.
