Recently jumped from a Cat 22' to a 71' Pearson 30! On the plus side it came with a brand new atomic 4 and I got it fairly cheap... on the down side the former owner passed away leaving me with very little info on the boat. Now I'm left trying to update the boat somewhat blind.

I'm trying to get running water to the two sinks on the boat and also determine if I have the ability to install an actual toilet and remove the boat porta potty I put in. Attached are a few photos that I'm certain involve one or the other... but I honestly need some advice. I'm lost and have found little info on the net for a 71' Pearson. Id like to have the sinks working as priority one.

Is the Pearson 30 made to hold a fresh water tank for the sink? Or do you only get fresh water when docked? Is there a tank for the toilet (both fresh and waste)?

Photo 1 is my hand holding some sort of cover in the area a toilet would sit. it goes to the gray tube pictured. also there is a black hose of some sort with a wooden stop in it.

Photo 2 is my hand pointing to a hose that seems to go to sink 1 and 2 on the boat. it randomly stops and is pictured. I cant find a place for the "fresh tank"

Photo 3 is the area around the toilet. I am curious to know what those two holes are in the floor!

And finally Photo 4 is a tank under the V-berth that I'm assuming holds water for the toilet because it looks to be colored water? But from what I've read it seems that is where the fresh drinking tank goes??? And I'm unsure as to where that black hose goes..

Any help would be great!!!

Can't speak for all P30s, but ours has one freshwater (drinking water) tank of about 16-20 gallons, under vee-berth; and one holding tank (for outflow from head) of about 12 gallons, also under vee-birth. Flush water for the head comes via through-hull below waterline, so there is no tank needed for that.

I don't know what the "colored water" is in one of your tanks; I am not sure I'd want to know, if you catch my drift!!

My 73 Pearson 30 is the same. Both tanks are under the V birth and the fresh toilet water comes from a hose connected to the engine water thru-hull.

Waste tank is on port side under V birth and fresh under Starboard.

It the same on my p-30, fresh water is located under V birth. You talk about some type of color water in your tank, could this boat be in cold weather area like upstate NY? I put in RV antifreeze to protect any water area that i didn't drain good. Follow your fresh water fill lines and see were it go. For the head i have a close loop system and i do have problem with it. I believe the the boat came new with water to the head from a through hull fitting and discharge the same way. I'm still working on the fixer upper or as the wife call her the other women. good luck.

I to started with a 22' Catalina and now 1971 P-30 #19 and i do like the fell of this boat under sail, good luck and stay in touch, also have about 2 1/2 years of collecting information on this boat and part listing.
