1969 Mariner 31 rebuild

Ok, some of you folks remember the Mariner 31 we started working on last year and put to the side. We sold it as a restoration boat package and boy, did we bite off a big one.

It turns out that the decks and house were toast. Many of the overhead beams were gone as well so we basically tore her down to the hull and started fresh. New framing, deck clamps, and various other structural components along with all new decks and house.

I'll post a couple of pice but because there's 70+, I'll post a slideshow link for those who want to see it all.

At present, the decks are one as well as the house and we are tabbing and preparing for a final glass wrap.

Wow! Great work. I know a shipwright who brought back a 31 and it was in better shape, just deck replacement and some coach roof repair. It is a spectacular boat now, but it was a big bite too. Yours will be a work of art and will live another lifetime. Now, for your next act, why don't you find a Choy Lee Lion ;-)

Thanks. This one was a mess. The back of the house was gone under the thin layer of glass and it got under the forward edge of the cockpit underlayment. We made a new athwartships house beam that is shown in the photos so the back of the house actually sits on something solid instead of floating like it did.
