192 User Experiences in Seaworthiness

Howdy All,
I apologize if my question has been covered in another post but I could not find what I was looking for in a search or on the web for that matter.

I'd like to hear from O'Day 192 owners about the type of trips they've done in their boats and the experiences in seaworthiness they dealt with. I know the O'Day is no blue water boat but how far can you push it if it is properly outfitted and the captain has a fair amount of experience. I've read stories of much smaller boats making big passages for it's size and fairing well. I rarely hear stories from 192 owners.

I've read the write up in SCA on the 192 which was very helpful but would like to hear some real life examples of what people have tried and succeeded and what things they would rather not try again and why.

I sail on a small lake, so I rarely see even chop. Which kinda bums me out. So I don't know how mine handles in sloppy water, though I will tuck in the reef for wind speed.

I camp out on the boat with just me all the time, and having a second person would not be a problem, especially if we are particularly familiar. (I tend to like the V-berth. Hmmm, I've never slept on the quarter berths yet…)

I feel very confident with the boat, and I keep considering towing it to the Northern Chesapeake. My tow platform is right about at its max, otherwise I probably would already have had her down there. Some conditions I've encountered on the Chesapeake in a power boat would certainly put me through my paces, and put me in my place!

I believe Dave Kautz has sailed his 192 to Catalina Island on many occasions. I'm sure he has selected his weather and conditions window carefully. That could be a great trip or a nasty trip, from what I have read. If it's not Dave, someone has sailed a 192 to Catalina.
