Can anyone tell me how much a 19' O'Day and trailer weigh? We have bought new cars since we bought this boat, and I don't know if we can trail this weight. Can you tell me if they possibly weigh over 1500 lbs? Neither of our cars can trail more than that, and we have to bring this boat down to Wilton, CT, about 450 miles. I appreciate any help we can get - dealers around here don't seem to have a clue!

Boat Weight

Alice, according to the specs listed in the boats forum, here, displacement is 2040 lbs. Add in about 400lbs for the trailer, another couple of hundred for gear, water, fuel and other supplies and you are about 2600 lbs give or take. Most car maker specs are safely conservative with regards to trailering capacity. There are things you can do to increase that and still be safe, but 1000 lbs is probably a stretch. I would advise you to seek a trailer hitch installer, someone you can trust and is reputable. Seek there guidance. Could you rent a vehicle (or borrow) to haul the boat? Don

U-haul?

You might want to contact your local U-haul, or other moving vehicle rental place. If its a question of will the hitch hold the weight, most of them sell trailer hitches at a reasonable price, of all diffrent weight classes. If it's a question of will my little Toyota pull that much weight, you might just be better off spending 50 bucks to rent a truck from them that has a trailer hitch rated to a few thousand lbs. and not have to worry about it. If it's just a single move of 450 miles, it might be cheaper that way no matter what you do. A new hitch is going to cost you a few hundred, and a new car strong enough to pull around your boat a good deal more! Josh
